    Leaning against the wall, legs outstretched and arms hanging limply by my side, I could feel the grime on the hard wall seep into my drenched shirt. I had propped myself against the gritty wall of the men’s public restroom, my only shelter from the raging storm outside.
    A boom of thunder crackled in the distance, and a streak of lightning lit up the bathroom through the small window above the stalls. A puddle gathered near my feet from a leak in the wall. The sink dripped water into the clogged bowl beneath it. The water level rose higher and higher, one drop at a time. Sounds of water droplets echoed across the bathroom, creating a balanced tune. It was the music of a rainy day.

    The cold night air nipped at my skin giving me goose bumps. Wind howled in the distance like a forgotten soul. Not a cloud could be seen that night. Peering up at the sky, I lay on the pavement in a dark alley. A full moon glowed brightly overhead. The stars were so numerous they lit up the entire sky, looking like little fireflies trapped in a single moment of time, unable to move for eternity. Starlight reflected off the brick walls, making the grotesque graffiti almost beautiful. A dumpster sat next to one of the side walls; thankfully it had been taken out the previous day so its stench left only minimum residue in the atmosphere.
    A whiff of summer air drifted up my nose, sending a tingle down my back. I loved the scent of summer. It smelled of smoldering campfires, which had only a few blocks of charred wood pieces left crackling. Someone was always barbequing this season or watering their already hopeles
