Standing in the Rain

I'm not particularly fond of this drawing, but I wrote a short story in 2011, which I love, that this drawing was meant for. I thought it only fair to share both. Please comment or add critiquing if you found this piece enjoyable. Thank you!

Standing in the Rain

Sitting at my desk bundled tightly in my warm Roxy sweatshirt, I watched the rain pour down on the trees that were being tossed about by the blustery wind. The sun had just started to set when I had finally finished my chores and was ready for my free time. I pulled out a blank, clean piece of paper from my desk. My pencil seemed to become an extension of my arm as it glided across the smooth paper. The blank page soon came to life as the stick figure transformed into a character. He seemed to pop out of the page. You could almost read his thoughts by looking at the lonely features of his face. His hair and clothes whipped about in the wind I had created. He was a young man with no name, only a face to tell him apart from the vast majority of the world. His eyes were forlorn and sad. He was standing in a dark alleyway rain pouring down on his already soaked head. Sharp pencil strokes across the bottom of the paper became spattering rain drops hitting the hard street. The moon cast a gleam of light on his weary face. Just then outside my window, a loud clash of thunder pierced the night sky and made me jump in my seat breaking me from the spell. I looked back down at the picture which was now complete and ready to be placed with my other masterpieces. Maybe he would find some friends amongst them.
